Building a candle checklist you will actually use

A checklist that asks for twelve candle conditions will be ignored under time pressure. We ask students to keep three confirmation gates and one veto.

Typical gates for our Dowlingville cohorts: pattern location relative to structure, body size versus the prior five bars, and whether the next candle continues or rejects. The veto is often a large opposing body on the immediate retest.

Write the checklist in the language you use at the desk — not textbook names alone. If you trade ASX equities in the morning and FX later, keep two short variants rather than one overloaded sheet.

Review the sheet after ten trades. Strike any line you never checked. Add only what you repeatedly missed.
